ANGEL - a spiritual being intermediate between God and man. The word comes from a Greek term meaning "messenger." There is a belief in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and other religions that angels are messengers or agents of God who announce his will or carry out his commands. Medieval Christians believes there were 9 choirs or orders of angels, these are: 1. Seraph (plural Seraphim or Seraphs) A six-winged angel. In the Old Testament (Isaiah 6:2-7), Seraphim adore God and use fire to purify the prophet Isaiah. 2. Cherub (plural Cherubim or Cherubs) A winged spiritual being. Customarily, a cherub is pictured as a winged child. Cherubim guarded the tree of life in the Guarden of Eden after Adam and Eve were driven out.
